This was one of the most inspiring weekends and eye opening weeks for me. My best friends came in from Miami for a friends wedding (themed Purple Rain,,dope) for a few days. I've been living on my own now with my roomate for a few months now but something was lacking in my life. Now don't get me wrong my life is great. Great family, friends, cool job, I can't complain. But there was something about this weekend that was so motivating, productive, and inspiring. Going around with my bestees as they saw all their friends in New York that they needed to catch up with since being in Miami this past year took me back to the days of where creativity ruled the world and not necessarily the liquor bottle. Great conversations about art, politics, pop culture, relationships and love. And laughs oh the laughs. I laughed from a good healthy place. lol :) I also had a BBQ where pretty much almost every family member living in NY showed up to. lol What an experience that was. I loved seeing my friends and family all together like we use to in the days of big backyards and good food and drink. I'm glad my roomate got to meet them all and they love her and they see I'm doing well. woohoo. Check and Check. Old friends got to talking again, new friends were made, friends became fam. It was a great time. The next couple of days were filled with good food, conversations, a Met game in between and a trip to broadway. Vanessa and I got to see West Side Story. OMG it was amazing. I cried she cried. My laatinoos represented and made me sooo proud. And it gave her the inspiration again to go back to Miami and represent like she's been doing for the past year. I recommend it to everyone. This week has been chill and relaxing, being at home and just enjoying my place and friends. Last night I watched the replay of Brave New Voices. Where youth from all over America spit spoken word in such a raw and inspiring way. Fearless, thought provoking, full of passion, humility and heart. I miss the days where I was inspired everyday. But that is all gonna change. Be the change you wish to see in the world and make shit happen. :)
