Brooklyn based hip-hop artist Lemon spins his version of the coming-of-age memoir with this jarring and poignant performance. Lemon’s unique voice seamlessly flows from hard-edged drama to urban poetry, creating a vivid portrait of his difficult yet at times humorous experiences growing up in New York City during the birth of hip-hop. COUNTY OF KINGS is a true story of finding passion and purpose in life, against all odds.

Lemon is a regular on HBO’s Def Poetry, an original cast member and writer of the TONY award winning Def Poetry Jam on Broadway and a Drama Desk nominee.

Running time: 90 minutes.

Seating is general admission for all UTR shows at The Public. Seats are available on a first-come, first served basis. Service fees apply for phone and online orders. Latecomers are seated at the discretion of house management, so arrive early.

It made me laugh, it made me cry. I am soooo proud of Lemon. He holds audiences captive for 90 minutes and takes them with him on his journey from a young boy in Brooklyn to a man. The first time I saw the beautiful struggle at Joe's Pub it was great, but the show has elevated so much more now. You will enjoy the ride Lemon takes you on and can connect with him in many ways. The plethra of characters he portrays is nothing short of genius and might I add hilarious. I highly recommend you go check it out at the Public Theater. It's an amazing show. =) Love ya Lem!!!
